The Avoda Foundation, co-founded in 2012 by Sriphai and Raimund Homberg, is a Thailand-basednonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting vulnerable and marginalized communities througheducation, empowerment, and faith-based support. From its humble beginnings in rural villages, Avoda has grown into a movement of compassion, resilience, and transformation, addressing critical needs across multiple provinces in Thailand.

To provide life-changing opportunities for children, families, and communities facing poverty,displacement, and systemic challenges. Through our four core pillars—Emergency Nutrition,Education, Legal Support, and Vocational Training—Avoda empowers individuals to break free from cycles of hardship and build brighter futures.
Our Story
The journey of Avoda Foundation began with a simple yet profound desire: to give children inimpoverished Thai villages a chance to dream, grow, and thrive. In 2012, Sriphai and Raimund co-founded the organization to formalize their efforts, which had already been impacting lives throughEnglish and Life Skills classes since 2007.
Key Milestones
• 2012: Founding of Avoda Foundation
Avoda was established to manage volunteer programs and secure work permits for Western volunteers who provided English, art, and sports classes to village children in Tak province.
• Tak Station: Think Tank & Training Center
The foundation’s first project in Tak province has since evolved into Avoda’s administrative
and training headquarters, where strategies and solutions for all Avoda projects are
developed.
• Migrant School for Burmese Refugee Children (Since 2007)
Avoda’s Christian migrant school on the Thailand-Myanmar border provides education for 200 refugee children, helping them integrate into the Thai school system and prepare for
meaningful employment.
• Anti-Drug and Life Skills Program in Chiang Rai
Since 2007, Avoda has worked with the Iu Mien tribe, offering counseling, life skills training, and elderly care. Today, the program reaches 60 village children and teens, reducing drug use among youth by 85% (according to local leadership).
• Support for the Moken Sea-Gypsies in Pang Nga
In response to the 2004 tsunami, Avoda began supporting the Moken people, a small Christian community, with ongoing aid and development initiatives.
2024–2031: Refugee Aid – A Priority for the Next Decade
Since the 2021 military coup in Myanmar, hundreds of thousands of refugees have fled into Thailand. Avoda has made refugee aid a central focus, addressing urgent needs in nutrition, education, legal rights, and job training.

• Community Empowerment: Over 60 children and teens in Chiang Rai regularly attend life skills classes, contributing to a significant decline in local drug use.
• Education: 200 Burmese refugee children enrolled in Avoda’s Christian migrant school.
• Vocational Success: Refugee youth mentored through Avoda have transitioned into stable jobs, breaking the cycle of poverty.
