A Heartfelt Plea from Avoda Foundation CEO:

Help Your Fellow People in Thailand

Tak Province, Thailand –November 27, 2024 –

Sriphai Homberg, CEO of the Avoda Foundation and a member of the Iu-Mien tribe, has issued an urgent call to action to Christian communities in the United States. With millions of migrants thriving in the U.S., Homberg pleads with those who understand the struggles of displacement to extend a helping hand to Karen refugee children in Thailand who are suffering from malnutrition and lack of basic necessities.

“I Know Their Pain—Because I Lived It”

As a migrant herself, Homberg understands the challenges of displacement. Her people fledcommunism from China to Laos, and eventually to Thailand. Growing up as a refugee, sheexperienced the pain of instability, poverty, and limited opportunities. Despite these hardships,Homberg pursued education, became an attorney at law, and now dedicates her life to helpingmarginalized communities.

“I know the pain of migration, the hunger for opportunity, and the desire for hope,” Homberg says.

“That’s why I’m reaching out to migrants in the USA who have made it. It’s time to help those whoare still struggling—the Karen refugee children in Thailand who desperately need our support.

”A Crisis in Thailand: Karen Refugee Children in Need

Since the military coup in Myanmar, thousands of Karen refugees have fled to Thailand, seekingsafety. Among them are countless children facing life-threatening malnutrition. These children, displaced and vulnerable, lack access to even the most basic necessities.

The Numbers:

• Over 200,000 refugees have poured into Thailand, creating an overwhelming demand for aid.

• Hundreds of children suffer from acute malnutrition, with little access to emergency nutrition programs.

• Without education and vocational training, these children face a bleak future, trapped in-cycles of poverty.

Through the Avoda Foundation, Homberg and her team are working tirelessly to address the resurgent needs. The foundation provides:

Emergency Nutrition: Delivering life-saving meals to malnourished children.

• Education: Integrating refugee children into Thai schools.

• Vocational Training: Equipping young adults with skills to build sustainable futures.
