In 2007, we began TAK CHILDREN'S HOME

with a clear vision rooted in compassion and faith.

Our journey started with a profound realization of the harsh realities faced by many children growing up in extreme poverty, vulnerable to exploitation and neglect. These circumstances drove us to establish a safe haven—an oasis of care and hope in Tak, Thailand.

At TAK CHILDREN'S HOME, our mission extends far beyond providing shelter. It encompasses a holistic approach to nurturing young lives, guided by the teachings of our Christian faith. We believe that every child deserves not only a safe place to live but also opportunities to thrive and grow into confident, capable individuals prepared for the challenges of life ahead.

Central to our philosophy is the belief in education as a transformative force. We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and equipping children with essential life skills. Through structured academic programs, vocational training, and personal development initiatives, we empower our children to discover their potential and pursue their dreams.

Moreover, our commitment to spiritual growth underpins everything we do. We strive to cultivate a nurturing environment where children can explore their faith, develop moral values, and build strong foundations for their spiritual journey. Daily routines are infused with prayer, biblical teachings, and opportunities for reflection, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.

Each child who walks through our doors finds not just a home but a supportive community dedicated to their well-being. We provide individualized care, mentorship, and emotional support to help them heal from past traumas and thrive in a loving environment. Our team of dedicated caregivers, educators, and volunteers works tirelessly to ensure that every child receives the attention and resources they need to succeed.

As we look back on our journey over the years, we are humbled by the transformations we have witnessed. Many of our alumni have gone on to pursue higher education, secure meaningful employment, and become leaders in their communities. Their success stories are a testament to the power of love, faith, and education in changing lives.

Looking forward, we remain steadfast in our commitment to serving vulnerable children and providing them with the tools they need to build a brighter future. With continued support from donors, volunteers, and partners, we aspire to expand our impact and reach even more children in need. Together, we can continue to write stories of hope, resilience, and empowerment—transforming lives one child at a time.

The story of helping others is not just about actions that make us
look good and humane towards others.

It's also a narrative that allows us to demonstrate compassion and understanding every day. Helping others gives us confidence that we can positively impact both our community and the world around us. It serves as a tool to build a strong and equitable society, economically and socially. Helping others not only adds value to the recipients but also fosters understanding and responsibility in promoting a better quality of life for everyone in the community.

Testimonials

Nawan -Avoda Tak Learning Center

I was a spoiled child who always wanted things my way. If I didn’t get what I wanted, I’d get upset and frustrated. I had no real life skills and didn’t know how to handle challenges.

Meeting Avoda was a turning point for me. They gave me the chance to try new things and learn essential skills. Gradually, I became more disciplined, responsible, and capable. Now, I’m much more skilled and confident in handling tasks that once seemed impossible. I’m incredibly grateful to Avoda for helping me become the person I am today.

Maei -Avoda Tak Learning Center

I was a very timid child. My parents were refugees from Myanmar who came to Thailand seeking a better life due to the ongoing war in Myanmar. They came from extreme poverty but worked tirelessly to support our family, especially during the time when my mother was suffering from tuberculosis. I wanted to better myself so that I could protect my family.

I never imagined I would have the opportunity to learn so many valuable life skills. Through my studies in technology, English, music, and cooking, I am preparing for a brighter future. Moreover, I have come to realize that God provides for me, and I will never be in need.

Ploy -Avoda Tak Learning Center

I used to be a shy and reclusive child who avoided expressing myself. I disliked leaving the house, was wary of people, and often let my emotions take over.

Everything changed when I started attending Avoda Learning Center. There, I was given incredible opportunities to explore and develop new skills. I had mentors who taught me music, guided me in computer skills and typing, and introduced me to English with the help of foreign teachers. I also learned how to teach children and study the Bible.

Avoda was a turning point for me. I went from avoiding social interactions to eagerly meeting new people and making friends. I transformed from someone driven by emotions to a more reasonable person who values others' opinions.

I went from being afraid to speak up to playing music and leading prayers in front of a congregation. I even had the chance to teach children, something I once thought was beyond my reach. Thanks to Avoda, I’ve been able to change my life and continue learning and growing every day.

Nin -Avoda Tak Learning Center

I’m originally from Laos and moved to Thailand as a child. Growing up in a poor immigrant family was extremely challenging. These difficulties caused me to lose hope and left me without any vision for my future or career.

When I joined the Avoda children’s home. They helped me achieve things I never thought possible. I learned to play the guitar and even saw the sea for the first time. Avoda also helped me develop a positive outlook on life and find faith in God.

Mind -Avoda Tak Learning Center

I was born into a very poor family. My parents were refugees hiding illegally in Thailand due to the harsh conditions and war. They worked tirelessly to give me the chance to go to school.

Avoda provided me with a scholarship and covered my monthly transportation costs, allowing me to attend school every day. I am determined to complete my education to help my family and myself in the future, and I also hope to give back by helping children who are in situations similar to me.

KhewnKhow -Avoda Tak Learning Center

I am a Karen and my family originally came from Myanmar, relocating to Thailand many years ago. I had the chance to attend a Thai school, but life was far from easy. I was bullied by classmates for being a foreigner, and my family had to work extremely hard to support my education.

I often felt like a burden and was afraid to express myself. Avoda provided me with opportunities for extra education in various fields. I had the chance to learn English directly from native speakers. What I am most grateful for is the scholarship Avoda provided, which covered my school fees. My parents received monthly support as well.

I have been with Avoda for many years, growing up from a young child. Through this support, I have come to know God and believe that He has chosen me as His child. I am now a believer and am truly happy with Avoda.

— Khwan Khao
