Avoda Foundation

>>> SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
A Personal Invitation from Sriphai Homberg
CEO of Avoda Foundation, Thailand.

Welcome to the Avoda Mission in Thailand. We warmly invite you to join the Avoda Mission Family. I co-founded the Avoda Foundation in 2012 together with my German missionary husband, with the desire to bring the blessings of the Kingdom of God to Thailand. From the beginning, my heart has especially been for the young and vulnerable in Thailand. I longed to see them strengthened through practical training, discipleship, Bible-based mission teaching, and vocational preparation.
My husband has now retired from leadership and is focusing on transforming his lifelong mission experience into practical books and workbooks that can bless others. Since January 2025, I have had the honor of serving as the CEO of Avoda Foundation.
Because Avoda is now female-led, we would especially love to build a worldwide network of mission-hearted women. In the Gospels, we see that Jesus Christ was supported by able and faithful women, and I believe this is still important today. I warmly invite active Christian women from around the world to join us in prayer, friendship, encouragement, and practical support for the mission in Thailand.
And yes — men are warmly invited too.
Let us become a family of believers who help turn Thailand to Christ and help the vulnerable grow into confident ambassadors of Jesus Christ.

My Story
My background is Iu Mien tribal. From a young age, I felt deeply troubled by injustice and by the unfair treatment of women. In many Iu Mien families, parents do not invest much in the education of daughters, because they think, "She will marry and follow her husband, so there is no future return for the family." Therefore, sons are often given more educational opportunities.
But I wanted education.
So I moved to Bangkok, studied communication, and worked alongside my studies to support myself. By God's grace, I completed my studies without student loans.
Later, because I wanted to fight injustice more effectively, I studied law and became a certified lawyer.
Over the years, God allowed me to help many people, including:
-
a young man who had been falsely framed in a drug case and faced the death penalty,
-
around 1,000 villagers who could have lost their rice fields because of the illegal construction of a waste burner,
-
many families and villagers caught in serious local conflicts,
-
and people trapped by online scammers and blackmailers.
I also met a missionary couple, and came to know Christ, and became a Christian at the age of ten. Since then, my desire has been to combine faith, justice, compassion, and practical service.
Since becoming CEO in 2025, I have felt both the great honor and the great burden of this responsibility. I move forward in faith, but I also know that I need prayer, wisdom, and strong Christian support.
I am deeply thankful for everyone who will stand with me.
A Special Invitation
As a woman leading a growing mission in Thailand, I would especially love to connect with active female Christians from churches around the world who feel called to pray, encourage, visit, support, and build together with us. We want to grow an international network of mission-minded women who will help strengthen the work of God in Thailand.
At the same time, Avoda is not only for women. We also have male pastors, evangelists, church workers, and leaders in our team, and we warmly welcome male supporters, partners, and members as well.
This is not about separating men and women. It is about building a strong Christian family — women and men together — to serve God's purposes in Thailand.

Avoda's Four Mission Stations in Thailand
Avoda currently has four mission stations across Thailand, from the far north to the deep south.

01
NORTH THAILAND — CHIANG RAI PROVINCE, NEAR THE LAOS BORDER
In the far north, near the Laos border, we work extensively with tribal communities, especially the Iu Mien and Hmong.
There is a local church that provides daily evening programs, discipleship, and educational opportunities. Since Avoda began working in this area, drug misuse in a nearby village dropped by 85%.
Visiting supporters love to join the evening classes. They can:
-
Play with teens and children
-
Teach English
-
Teach handicrafts
-
Share Bible lessons in English
-
Join the team when visiting tribal villages high in the mountains
Many visitors also enjoy a boat tour along the mysterious Mekong River at the Thailand–Laos border.

Main leaders in the North:
San — church planter, pastor, and discipleship trainer
02
WEST THAILAND — MAESOT, TAK PROVINCE, NEAR THE BURMESE BORDER

In Maesot, near the Myanmar border, Avoda runs a migrant learning center with more than 260 students.
This area is strongly affected by waves of refugees whenever civil war intensifies in Myanmar. Many refugee children suffer from malnutrition, displacement, and insecurity. Avoda responds with emergency food aid, outreach, and practical help. We also connect families to a local church, and we invite children to join the learning center.
Visitors enjoy:
-
Conducting English camps
-
Running Gospel camps
-
Distributing food aid
-
Playing with children
-
Visiting families in slum homes
-
Praying with children and parents

Main leader in Maesot:
Wa — learning center director and key contact person along the Thai–Burmese border
03
CENTRAL WEST THAILAND — TAK HEADQUARTERS
Only about two hours by car from Maesot is the Avoda Headquarter in Tak.
This is a training ground for CBEC, future leaders, including Avoda leaders, church leaders, and mission workers. Trainees often stay for an extended period, learning:
-
Office work
-
Administration
-
Computer skills
-
Outreach
-
Church planting
-
Practical daily service

Avoda also has a small farm with water buffalo, chickens, ducks, and sheep. We grow our own vegetables and try to live as organically and sustainably as possible.
Visitors enjoy:
-
Helping train future leaders
-
Teaching advanced Bible and leadership topics
-
Sharing cultural life
-
Simply spending time with trainees and learning from one another
At Tak, visitors can also meet Sriphai Homberg, CEO, directly.
04
SOUTH THAILAND — SEA PEOPLE PROJECT, NEAR PHUKET
About 1,400 km south, near Phuket, Avoda is beginning to develop a mission project among the people often called the sea gypsies, though many prefer to be known simply as sea people.
These communities have a long history of living close to the sea, and this mission station is still in an exciting stage of growth.
Visitors love:
-
The wide and beautiful beaches
-
The tropical ocean atmosphere
-
Joining tours with sea people families
-
Camping on small islands
-
Watching Christian sea people catch and cook fish
-
Spending time with sea people youth and children
