Education Is the Only Chance for Displaced Children

In a world where some children go to school every day without a second thought, many others grow up without even the chance to open a single book. Displaced children live with uncertainty without citizenship, without basic rights, and without choices.
But Avoda Foundation believes that education is hope.
We see the light in their eyes-children who haven’t given up. They still dream. They still want to learn. They still believe their future can be better if only they’re given the chance.

Today, you can be part of that change. Whether by donating, supporting with school supplies, or simply sharing their story every small act can open a door.

Because education should not be a privilege for some. It should be a right for every child.

The Avoda Learning Center has been at the heart of Avoda’s mission since 1998, providing crucial educational support to Burmese refugee children and youth in Thailand. Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and displacement, and the Learning Center is designed to equip young refugees with the skills they need to integrate into Thai society and pursue a brighter future.
Our Learning Center serves students in three key groups:
1. Preparation for Thai School Entrance: Young children, typically around the age of 7, are taught the Thai language in preparation for their entrance exams into Thai schools.
2. Enrolled in Thai Schools: Students who pass their entrance exams are enrolled in Thai schools. The Learning Center continues to mentor and support these students as they integrate into the Thai education system and stay on track with their studies.
3. Non-Formal Education: Older students, generally aged 15 or above, who are unable to enter formal Thai schools, attend non-formal education programs where they can finish their education and graduate with a 12th-grade equivalent.

At the Learning Center, students not only learn Thai and Burmese language but also receive lessons in art, music, and Bible studies. This holistic education approach ensures that refugees are not only prepared for Thai schools but are also encouraged to develop their character and moral values.

Your donation to the Avoda Learning Center helps provide refugee children and youth with a
brighter future through education. For just USD 10 a month, your contribution helps:
• Provide language education for children to pass Thai school entrance exams.
• Support refugee students in their integration into Thai schools, where they can thrive and succeed.
• Offer a safe space for older youth to complete their education and gain important skills for employment.
• Provide art, music, and Bible studies to foster creativity and moral growth.

By donating to the Learning Center, you’re offering young refugees the opportunity to escape the poverty cycle and build a future for themselves outside of the slums. With your support, they can integrate into Thai society, gain an education, and become positive contributors to their communities.
